In 1997, Joel Griffiths and Chris Bryson, two respected mainstream journalists, peered into an abyss. They found a story about fluorides that was so chilling it had to be told.

The Christian Science Monitor, who had assigned the story, never published it.

Their ensuing article, “Fluoride, Teeth, and the Atomic Bomb,” has been posted on websites, sometimes with distortions, deletions, or additions. . . .

Griffiths also told me that researchers who study the effects of fluorides by homing in on communities with fluoridated drinking water, versus communities with unfluoridated water, miss a major point: fluorides are everywhere—they are used throughout the pharmaceutical industry in the manufacture of drugs, and also in many other industries (e.g., aluminum, pesticide)—because fluorine is very active and binds with all sorts of other substances. Therefore, there is extremely wide public exposure to fluorides....

Examples abound. When valves leaked, more leakage was allowed — up to 20 times the original limit. When rampant cracking caused radioactive leaks from steam generator tubing, an easier test of the tubes was devised, so plants could meet standards.

Failed cables. Busted seals. Broken nozzles, clogged screens, cracked concrete, dented containers, corroded metals and rusty underground pipes — all of these and thousands of other problems linked to aging were uncovered in the AP's yearlong investigation. And all of them could escalate dangers in the event of an accident.

Yet despite the many problems linked to aging, not a single official body in government or industry has studied the overall frequency and potential impact on safety of such breakdowns in recent years, even as the NRC has extended the licenses of dozens of

To achieve that goal, the utility plans to double ALPS’ current processing capacity of up to 750 tons per day by this fall.
The government is also expected to provide funding to introduce a similar system with the capacity of up to 500 tons per day in the near future.

Tokyo Electric Power Co. (9501) will deploy a second system to strip a dangerous isotope from water stored at its wrecked Fukushima nuclear facility, as it struggles to overcome problems with its existing water processor.

The utility known as Tepco has signed a contract with Kurion Inc. to remove strontium from about 400,000 metric tons of radioactive water stored at Fukushima using truck-mounted filters, the Irvine, California-based company said in a statement today.

Kurion’s equipment will be used alongside the site’s ALPS processors, which have been prone to stoppages. The Toshiba Corp. system is designed to remove strontium, linked to bone cancer, and 61 other isotopes from water contaminated by contact with highly radioactive reactor fuel.

Two of ALPS’s three units, each capable of processing 250 tons of water per day, were taken offline last month (!!!)  after high levels of calcium were found in the water leaving the system. One resumed today, while a third came back online on May 23, two months after filters and gaskets deteriorated due to radiation exposure.

ALPS doesn’t filter tritium, another radioactive element. Kurion plans to demonstrate its tritium-removal techniques to Japan’s trade ministry...

Filtering this water, what a joke. And do what with it? The problem with this is that they are just now trying to do stuff in this avenue of waste managment. If they would of been doing this from the begining, they would know what is possible. Trittium as of now isnt NOT removable. That this company plans to show a technique to remove Trittium shows the infancy this spectrum of the nuclear industry. I view Trittium as a bad element to release because of the ease it bonds with water, and it is totally possible that it can be drawn into the natural process of rain, and rain radioactive material around.

But forget about the water, whats it matter now. Theres 150 tons of core material missing they think, the estimates of how much was dusted over japan and the oceans is debatable. Not finding the cores is bad. Cant contain what you cant find. Why cant they find it, cause its way to hot there. Not even machines can deal with it. Thats enough core material to destory the earth thats missing, at least change it in a bad way if it dosnt out right kill everything. Things live around chernobly, who knows, maybe radioactive elements are like vitimans and give you super human powers. Certainly cant do what the doctors say radio active contamination will do to you even on a small scale, they classed it as No Threshold.

Any attempts to filter the radiated water will fail just like everything else they do! Also that ice wall is going to meltdown just like TEPCO's nuclear reactors
did because of their Gross negligence of not protecting the reactor pool
generators. TEPCO should be passing out the DETOX mineral called
Zeolite in order to safely remove radiation from the bodies of those
need to remove the radiation. For more information on this detox do a

A second ALPS decontamination system is being installed at Fukushima Daiichi and will begin test operations in early September. NRA announced the new system yesterday. The first ALPS system, designed by Toshiba has been plagued with problems that required around a year of testing operations to make it work properly.

RosRAO, a subsidiary of Russian nuclear giant Rosatom has won a contract to filter radioactive tritium out of the contaminated water collected at the Fukushima nuclear power plant.

US firm Kurion Inc, and GE Hitachi Canada, a joint project between the Japanese and US corporations, also won tenders for the job. Each of the three contractors will be given 1 billion yen (US$9.5 million) to present a working filter prototype by March 2016.

"The levels we saw were detectable, but low and not a health hazard to anyone," Norman says. With findings in hand, he informed the local media that there was nothing to worry about, he says, and did his best to stress the lack of dangerous radioactivity in the rainwater.
