Hi everyone,
This is a smidge of a paragraph that I had to re-piece back together from the declassified article on charged particle beam weapons that the Soviets and Americans seemed likely to be working on together in the 1980's to bring us another deadly weapon that would kill humans and electronics as an intended target. The document in this paragraph was talking about the weapon shooting a plane out of the sky as a target and what effect the radiation produced by the charged particle beam weapon would emit. It looks like the weapon produces x, gamma, as well as neutron radiation. Since I had to piece this paragraph back together it is just an excerpt from the paper that I thought was interesting in which the author fully admits how damaging an 80 rads whole body dose would be to a human target. This is directly from the unclassified paper so I am not misconstruing anything and am strictly interested in the radiation effects admitted. I wonder how many planes have been subjected to this as a test by a government? No need for a missile to take a plane out of the sky anymore, just a charged particle beam weapon like in a Star Wars movie. I wonder how many rads we are all being subjected to as a direct result of all of the melted reactors? What is that radiation doing to us when we fly in a plane close to the top layer of the atmosphere where that radiation is trapped in the upper layer of our atmosphere? We can get a glimpse of what it is probably doing to our civilian flight crews as well as all of us subjected to this on the ground. God help us all....these men making and allowing and using this type of weapon will destroy us all.
Target hardening of the aircraft will help to reduce the
total radiation exposure of the electronics. Hardening of the craft
must be established and electronic hardening technique initiated.
Flight Crew Protection is also stated as an issue because whether it is a direct hit with the CPBW or not the crew will probably be subjected to x-ray and gamma ray radiation dose in the
Kilo rad to mega Rad level. This will probably be true whether the
CPBW hits the aircraft directly or near because of the cone of
radiation. Depending on whether the aircraft is attacked
by a CPBW will directly or a missed strike the aircraft could be
subjected to will have decreased function but still have long enough to complete the mission.
Radiation in the hundreds or thousands of rads will probably be enough to incapacitate the crew at a bare minimum. At about 80 rads the
blood pressure is sufficiently lowered that a G-force greater than one G
will probably cause blackout to the pilots.
