While Dana was talking on the Rense show, he was tied up in front of a big old tug boat, hidden under the bow of it from Winds gusting up around 55 mph. This is where he will be sleeping on the Intrepid II boat for the night. (brrrrr) The gusts will be up to 70 mph tomorrow, so he won't get across tomorrow. At the time of the radio show, Dana was 90 kms away from his destination. He has travelled about 700 kms so far, along the BC coast; heading for his destination of Haida Gwaii, (Queen Charlotte Islands) at this leg of his journey.
When the weather breaks, he will be able to get across to the Queen Charlotte Islands to continue along the coast there, of approximately 360 kms along each side of the Islands.
He is now in an area that is one of the most untouched places in the world; no large industry dumping into the waters there, and the waters there have been extremely regulated so no over-gathering or fishing could ever take place. This area is; or should be rich with abundant, beautiful, colorful sea-life, and the tide pools should be full of life renewing itself for the Pacific ocean.
Before his diving accident, (that put him into leg braces and a wheel-chair) Dana used to be able to break off chunks along the shores there at low tide; just walking out at low tide to grab the chunks along the tide pools, and just one would have 50 to 60 scallops and 10 to 30 abalone stuck onto the chunk.
So when the weather breaks, Dana will be heading over to Haida Gwaii (Queen Charlotte Islands) to gather more evidence of the dying Pacific Ocean.
