The Diablo Canyon seismic shake-up
Here's an article worth reading in regards to the seismic tests Diablo Canyon did and how the Alliance for Nuclear Responsibility has filed a protest with the California Public Utilities Commission.
"On March 31, the Alliance for Nuclear Responsibility filed a protest with the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) that, if accepted, would give the group a seat at the table as PG&E seeks to recover approximately $7 million in costs from conducting seismic studies." read more here... www.newtimesslo.com/news/10792/the-diablo-canyon-seismic-shakeup/
April 12,2014 The Vancouver Sun: Citizen scientists prepare to test West Coast for Fukushima radiation.
''Sometime in the next few weeks highly diluted, low-level radiation from the Japanese nuclear disaster is expected to reach West Coast shores.'' The way they put it..sounds rather nice and almost good news! Intrepid Ken begrudgingly dons his protective shirt, Beard and magic glasses to go look for really very small amounts of a highly diluted bananas. Another couple of months down the drain?
April 11, 2014. Fukushima Diary: Tepco plans to start discharging the bypass water to the Pacific from this coming June, but alpha nuclides including Plutonium-238/239/240 and Uranium-235/238 will not be tested nor filtered.
''...They do not even believe that low levels of radiation can harm you and yet you're giving them your water to test for you...it's absurd to me but it's an example of how the con is working...'' (Guest)
''...it's extremely difficult to watch this madness...the forces of darkness are pulling out all the stops because it is in it's death throws...and barring a miraculous awakening we must be more worried that they are going to get their way...'' (M.C.R)

I was pretty despondent before about the future when police were killing at will people in inner cities and it seemed to me the younger generation was apathetic about it all. Not forming big 60s style resistance etc. Then I saw Tracy Chapman at the Beacon. She sang her new song "Bang, Bang, Bang" but I couldn't hear the lyrics because the (mixed race, eclectic) crowd was screaming and jumping on their seats. That reaction gave me hope when I heard the song later when I could hear the words.
This has to be one of the saddest days in SciFri history. I can't believe that Ira Flatow actually did this. I was heartened by some of the comments from people who seem to have a clue about what is happening.
bchamp, you DO know that NPR is run by the corporations, mostly, with some feel-good stuff to make your think they're real reporters?
While i'm thinking on it... A while back this year we all woke up in the UK to find a red dust all over our cars.....most annoying! So as one would expect our great and good leaders took extreme care to explain exactly what was going on in a way we could all grasp...phew....just so nice to feel so cared for all the way down the line...Science is a wonderful thing!!

April 25,2014 Kevin Blanche Youtube: On his way to a San Francisco protest Kevin comments on new Ocean test results coming from the community. But still silence from the scientific community and the media.

starlight: Perfect and then some! Dana is burning through the cash on some top notch state of the art tech and for those who can afford to, every pound is cherished and used in this endeavour. Presentation is vital and he’s come so far!

starlight: Posting the links in the chat now you have made the thread is perhaps a mistake, I say this in all good faith and only because eventually the chat will be erased by new chat posts which, though slow, require space of their own. Best wishes for 2019!

millie: Hi, Starlight. No problem. I posted here because the thread is not visible to the outside world, just members apparently. I post in enough other places it's not a big deal. Thanks for the correction, and Happy New Year!

starlight: Are you experiencing difficulties building a thread? For certain things such as expanding pictures one has to log in but building a thread is still possible I’m sure. Don’t give up just yet!

starlight: post will result in slow page redraw, cumbersome. So don’t try to post Dana’s entire output retrospectively but stuff you have a comment on .... might be a good balance? It’s tricky! I have just one thread and go there to post my contribution over time.

millie: For #Fukushima's eighth anniversary (3/11), netc.com was taken down so we can't see the EPA radiation levels. Therefore we should conclude that everything is a-ok. Not.
